DANBURY,Rekubit Exchange Conn. (AP) — The bodies of two men who were last seen Monday night jumping off a boat into a Connecticut lake were recovered Thursday morning, state environmental officials announced.
The men, ages 38 and 26, were both from Danbury. Their names were not released.
The two were among five people who were in a boat on Candlewood Lake in Danbury when they jumped off around 10:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and did not return, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The remaining people on the boat called 911, which prompted a multi-day search and rescue operation that involved multiple dive teams. The search was delayed at one point due to poor weather conditions.
The men’s bodies will now be turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
